2026 Peace in the Pages Award Honorees
READ to Lead Award: Stephanie Cost
Former First Lady of Jacksonville University
The READ to Lead Award honors an individual who exhibits the bravery and willingness to lead - especially when such leadership is difficult.
For 14 years, until her retirement in summer 2026, Stephanie Cost served as First Lady of Jacksonville University, where she championed students, enriched campus life, and strengthened connections with the Jacksonville community.
Among her proudest achievements was helping establish the Cost Honors College, creating opportunities for high-achieving and high-potential students to learn and thrive. She continues to serve as Chair of its Executive Council and remains involved with the University through advisory boards and student engagement.
Stephanie's commitment to community service extends throughout Jacksonville. A Legacy member of the Women's Giving Alliance and graduate of Leadership Jacksonville's Class of 2015, she has supported numerous organizations, including READ USA, the Jacksonville Symphony, Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, City Year, and Volunteers in Medicine. She also recently completed more than a decade of service on the Ronald McDonald House Jacksonville board of directors.
Before moving to Jacksonville, Stephanie held positions with several FORTUNE 500 companies and founded her own interior decorating business. She was also an active philanthropic leader in the Philadelphia area, founding a women's giving group that supported local nonprofits. She graduated summa cum laude from Immaculata University with a bachelor's degree in Economics.
Outside her community commitments, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family, reading, painting, photography, golf, and travel.
